Abstract

This presentation will describe modifications to the flat organizational model on our campus and the impact of those changes on department chairs. More specifically, we will discuss how a task force of department chairs developed an approach creating a more autonomous role for the chair.

  • Participants of this presentation will engage in an exchange of ideas and experiences and discussion of utilizing a team-based approach for managing the flat model at a small, Christian liberal arts university.

    Participants will learn how to develop a team-based approach for department chairs on their campus.

    Participants will take some specific strategies back to their home institution to initiate a similar program.
