Abstract
In an earlier paper it was proposed that the author would—over time—collect and publish the texts of all ancient sumptuary laws of the United Kingdom, at least the principal ones. This has proven to be slower than expected. But in this article, An Act to avoid the excess in apparel 1554-5 is transcribed in full, with a commentary. [Excerpt].
